Chief Residents

Dr. Varsha Prakash
Dr. Varsha Prakash

Varsha Prakash was born and raised in India and moved to the United States after Medical School. She received her MBBS degree (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) from Government Medical College Thiruvananthapuram and her Masters degree in Respiratory Care from University of Texas, Health Science Center, San Antonio, Texas. She worked as a research fellow in the Department of Pathology and Immunology at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas before joining her residency here at UMMC. She is pursuing AP/CP training and is currently a third-year resident (PGY-3). After graduation, she will join the University of Miami/Milner School of Medicine in Miami, Florida as a fellow in Gastrointestinal and Hepatic Pathology. Her other areas of interest are Breast Pathology and Genitourinary Pathology. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and son watching movies and travelling. She enjoys dancing and cooking.

Dr. Nazar Rahmanov
Dr. Nazar Rahmanov

Dr. Nazar Rahmanov is a PGY2 resident at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Department of Pathology. He was born and raised in Turkmenistan and completed his medical education in Turkey. He worked as

a postdoctoral associate at the SUNY at Buffalo, Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in Buffalo, NY.  He is interested in flow cytometry, hematopathology, and gastrointestinal pathology. Dr. Rahmanov is a resident liaison for the pathology interest group at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. He loves to work with medical students and strongly believes in the importance of contributing to the development of the future generation of healthcare professionals. He is also interested in philosophy and loves nature.
